Channeling Chanel in East Africa | Yoga, Soccer & Feasting on Goat | Exec. Director, Kazozah -- All in Service of Clean Fresh Water | Lynn Malooly, Exec. Director, Water for South Sudan
Coming to you again from the Dominican Republic, this episode brings you two women working in Sub-Saharan Africa, one bringing water to people in South Sudan and the other growing beauty and opportunity through fashion in Burundi.
Lynn Malooly, who hails from Upstate New York, had her world turned upside down when she wandered into her local library years ago to hear one of the infamous “lost boys” speak about being conscripted as a child soldier. He eventually escaped, and while traveling the world to tell his story Lynn was in the audience.
While she had long dedicated her life to helping those in need, suddenly this work became global, and she set out to help bring fresh water and hope to a parched land.
Less than 1000 miles away (close by African standards), Ange Muyubira dazzles her countrymen and women with colorful fashion, helping artisans become entrepreneurs in her tiny home country of Burundi.
Hear her share about taking lessons learned in Europe’s elite fashion houses into the streets, villages, and even the Presidential Palace of the continent’s poorest country.
In this episode, we will be discussing their inspiring stories as well as their work creating positive change in their communities – and how a goat and a well-set table can change the vibe of an otherwise regular day.

Ange has always been a visionary with the goal of improving the lives of those with less opportunity, especially those from her home country of Burundi. From a young age, she traveled and lived in many countries, including Niger for one year, Kenya for three years, and in England for ten years. In the United Kingdom, she studied Legal Interpreting at Metropolitan University and worked as an interpreter in courts in both London and Dublin for three years.
Although she enjoyed interpreting, Ange always wanted to pursue her passion for beauty and fashion, so she juggled the two careers. For nine years in London, she served as an account manager for many high-end beauty houses including Chanel, Dior, Carolina Herrera, Prada, Fashion Fair, Tom Ford Beauty, and The Lauder Group. Back in Burundi, she also organized many fashion shows, film and theater events, ad campaigns/commercials, and private events such as weddings and traditional ceremonies.
Before founding Kaz’O’zah Art, Ange started the company Burundi Tours & Events, a locally run tour operator and event planning company that handles the coordination of activities for numerous government, business, and individual groups. Kaz’O’zah Art, however, is her dream come true. She loves that this social enterprise has provided her the opportunity to continue mentoring others, something she always enjoys.
For the last 15 years, Ange has held a variety of training and mentoring positions, one of her favorites being teaching children in Sunday School. She also sits on the boards of Burundi Kidney Care Clinic and the Social Impact Incubator. Additionally, she enjoys anything related to beauty and fashion, cultural exchange, and traveling (she has visited 23 countries to date).
Lynn is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plans of the organization. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with experience in community relations and alternative education, Lynn joined WFSS in 2010 as the first U.S. employee.
